The article that I had chosen to do my poster on was 'Article 4': "No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms." The bright colours that I chose to have in the background of this poster was supposed to represent the world that we live in (our community/ country). The other side of the fence has darker, more neutral colours which I chose to represent the world that the slave lives in, as it looks more negative and sullen. The foreground of the poster shows the world seen by a slaves perspective, in both in a realistic and hypothetical sense. Examples being the chain around their wrist, the bruises and abrasions on their hand, and the chain link fence that keeps them just out of reach of a life like ours. The brightly coloured symbols in the background symbolize the things that they cannot have, that we take for granted, the mathematical symbols (education), the book (easily accessible knowledge), and the pill and the bandage (healthcare and well being). The chain-link fence also symbolizes the separation between our world and the slave's world, which I also tried to tie in with my quote "27 million slaves in the world today" -freetheslaves.net. I did this because in personal experience our community, whether as a city or a country, is not as informed as we could/ should be about this topic, (or at least the severity of this issue). I think my post shows that unless we show more concern for this issue the "chain-link fence" will remain there, trapping those who are being used as slaves behind it.
